The future Mrs. Pulsipher's new album comes out Sept 13!  You can listen to it at npr and it's a goodie:

  2. I have to admit that I posted the link before I had listened to the whole album. However, once I finally did listen to it, I wasn't disappointed. But then, I've been a big St. Vincent fan for a while. She's kind of like Sufan for me; it's hard for hertondo something that I don't like. I love her first two albums and this one felt like a very natural

  3. Crap. I'm posting this comment via my iPhone and my finger inadvertently hit the send button.

Anyway, as I was saying, the new album felt like a very natural progressing from the others.

Actually, when her second album came out, I wasn't so sure I liked it. Since she only had the one album before, which was fairly sedate, it was kind of surprising to see where she was taking her music. It was especially jarring to hear her soft, angelic voice juxtaposed against that gritty guitar. But the more I listened to te album, the more I loved it. And now that seemingly paradoxical sound is just "the St. Vincent Sound" to me, which she expands upon even further in this new album.

So yeah, I liked it. There are definitely some songs that I will listen to more often than others, but on the whole, I thought it was pretty great. So, you can have Beth/Rest and I'll take St. Vincent.

  4. hahaha. me taking beth/rest makes it sound like my musical palate is not as mature as yours. hah. no, i should give it another try. also, while i do know her, i don't know her music well, at all - except when she has collaborated with others. so, maybe i should listen to her earlier albums first.. so i'll try to do that when i have time, which will be when i finish school, so next year, hmm sounds great! seriously, life has been so so so busy and i have been so bad about listening to new music. hopefully i'll find some time soon!
